Riverside Apartment

Norwich

PROJECT TYPE:

Refurbishment of penthouse apartment in prominent riverside location

PHOTOGRAPHER:

Andy Perkins

The 3,600 sq ft duplex apartment situated on the river in Norwich.

The apartment was intended by the developer to be three apartments but the original owner bought all three off-plan and worked with an architect to create one large duplex apartment that was completed in 2007.

We have been working with our client over the last five years, firstly refurbishing the lower floor including reconfiguring the primary suite.

We have now completed the vast open plan living space with a detailed Mondrian inspired featured wall filling an end wall.

The grid like design was meticulously planned ensuring existing furniture and ornaments fit into a block along with bespoke TV cabinet that was commissioned to blend seamlessly into the wall.

The supporting columns throughout the space have been finished in a travertine effect wall covering to add texture.

At the other end of the room we have reconfigured the space to improve the proportions as the kitchen was too small.

Although our client had no strong views she did request the orange Smeg fridge was to be the centrepiece and the rest of the kitchen was designed around it. The orange thread runs throughout the scheme and into the sitting area but the Smeg remains the focal point in the kitchen.

A design concept was created with industrial style materials that give a nod to the history of the factory and complement the dark grey exterior cladding. The grid like exterior of the building influenced the wallcovering choice.

We are delighted that our design for Riverside Apartment won a 5 star award when the project was recognised as the Best Kitchen Design in Norfolk at the United Kingdom Property Awards.
