Architectural Wonders in Budapest

Architectural wonders in Budapest

A pre-Christmas city break is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit and get some architectural inspiration – Budapest excelled on both counts!

Visiting the Széchenyi thermal baths was a highlight of the trip, I was surprised how enjoyable it was being in an outside pool in December.

By taking a boat trip along the Danube you could really appreciate the variety of buildings and I was surprised to see some incredibly contemporary structures such as the Bálna (Whale) on the Pest bank, this is a modern shopping, cultural and entertainment centre set amongst the historic buildings.

My top tips for inspiring interiors whilst you dine…

If biophilia is your thing you will love the plant filled TWENTY SIX ( it’s a cosy urban jungle in an enclosed triple height courtyard kept to a comfortable 26 degrees.

For a more elaborate setting with ornate detailing a visit to ‘The most beautiful café in the world’ – The New York café. The stunning plasterwork, chandeliers and painted ceiling have to be seen to be believed.

So much to see and do in this Hungarian city.
